Staying Active and Working Out While Traveling

October 16, 2023 By Megan No Comments

Maintaining an active lifestyle can be challenging while traveling, especially when you’re in a small space like a hotel room. However, with a little creativity and motivation, you can easily incorporate exercise into your travel routine. In this blog post, I will share some practical tips to stay active while traveling and also provide you with easy-to-do workouts that can be done in small spaces such as a hotel room.

Tips to Stay Active While Traveling:

  1. Plan ahead: Before your trip, research your destination to find out if there are any nearby fitness facilities, parks, or walking trails. Having this information will help you incorporate activities into your travel itinerary.
  2. Pack workout essentials: Even though you might not have access to a fully equipped gym, bring some essential workout gear. Consider packing resistance bands, a jump rope, a yoga mat, or even a compact portable exercise device like a set of dumbbells.
  3. Stay active during transit: Long flights or bus rides can leave you feeling tired and sluggish. Combat this by stretching or walking around during layovers or breaks. Additionally, take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator whenever possible.
  4. Walk or bike instead of using transport: When exploring a new destination, opt for walking or cycling whenever feasible. It not only saves money on transportation costs but also provides a chance to explore the city on foot or bike, which is an excellent way to stay active.
  5. Utilize hotel facilities: Many hotels offer fitness centers, swimming pools, or even yoga classes. Take advantage of these facilities to keep up with your workouts or try something new.

Easy Hotel Room Exercises when you don’t have a lot of space:

  1. High knees: Stand in place and lift your knees as high as possible while pumping your arms. Do this exercise for 30 seconds, rest for 10 seconds, and repeat for three to four sets.
  2. Bodyweight squats: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, lower your body into a squatting position, and then push through your heels to return to the starting position. Perform three sets of 15-20 squats.
  3. Push-ups: Place your hands shoulder-width apart on the floor, extend your legs behind you, straighten your arms, and lower your body until your chest nearly touches the floor. Complete two sets of 10-15 push-ups, or modify by doing them against the wall or using a chair.
  4. Plank: Get into a push-up position with your elbows on the ground, resting your weight on your forearms. Hold this position for 30-60 seconds, engaging your core muscles. Repeat for three sets.
  5. Jumping jacks: Stand with your feet together and arms by your sides. Jump while spreading your legs out to the sides and raising your arms overhead. Return to the starting position and continue for 30 seconds, rest for 10 seconds, and repeat for three sets.

Staying active while traveling is essential for both physical and mental well-being. By incorporating these tips and easy hotel room workouts into your travel routine, you can combat the sedentary aspects of being on the road and enjoy a healthier and more energized journey. Remember, even short bursts of exercise in small spaces can have a significant impact on your fitness and overall health. So, stay motivated, be creative, and most importantly, have fun while staying active during your travels!

Oh you know… just us during a football Sunday co Oh you know… just us during a football Sunday commercial break. 🤪

I feel like we are getting close! Just need a little more practice. 💪🏻 Poor Joel didn’t know the “burnout” portion of his shoulder workout was “dirty dancing” with his girlfriend (and A2!) 😂
Girls that need their winter tans because they fee Girls that need their winter tans because they feel “washed out” in their holiday reds, greens, silvers, whites and golds... I FEEL YOU! 🙌🏼😂

I don’t put on as many layers in the colder seasons but there’s just something about having a little bronzy “glow” that completes an outfit for me… even in the winter. 💁‍♀️

Are you that way too?

Here are a few self-tanning tips if you’re a newb…
- for best results, exfoliate beforehand.
- apply in circular motions and lightly “brush” over joints (elbows, knees, etc.) and hands + feet with excess leftover on your mitt.
- rinse after applying @lovingtanofficial 2-hour express tan to avoid tanner smell and bronzer transfer on clothing
- dust a little baby powder or makeup powder in creases while tanner dries (under butt cheeks, armpits, etc.)
- if you have streaking or unevenness after tan dries, don’t panic! You can blot the area with a damp washcloth to blend and then apply a little tanner in that area.
- wear loose clothing whole tan dries to avoid weird tan lines.
- also… obv. This is something you should do sans bikini but… ya know, keepin’ it PG around here 🤪

Wanted to pull back the curtain {bangs} and reveal Wanted to pull back the curtain {bangs} and reveal the lady who is the magic behind my hair here in Dallas!

When I first moved here, six months ago, I was so nervous to find a new hairdresser, but I really got lucky on the first shot! The great thing about @hellogorgeous_hairlounge (Meron) is, not only is she a master it cut and color but she’s also independent! So if there is a certain color brand you would like to use, she can make that happen for you! She is located at @asuitesalon in Frisco, Texas.

I get asked about my cut and color a lot, so here are the details…

The hair color brand is from @davinesofficial and the number is 4,0 and 6,71 20 vol. I have been told I am a level five… whatever that means. 🤪 She applies this root color every 4 weeks. The lighter shades in my hair are leftover highlights from years ago. I decided to go back to my natural color when I was working so hard on my hair health last year.

My cut was dubbed the “butterfly haircut” earlier this year, but really it is just long to mid-length layers with curtain bangs. 😁

One last thing! If you are local and want to pay Meron a visit, she will give you 20% off at your first appointment! Just make sure you bookmark this post and tell her Megan sent you! 🤗

I only had time to semi-learn the dance… Not so I only had time to semi-learn the dance… Not so much the lyrics. 😂 We will just say the spatula is for this cute MIX of Christmas jammies I scored from Amazon! 🎄 I was shocked that they are all so cozy and comfy! I tried to buy a Christmas onesie from Amazon a few years ago and it felt like plastic. But not these! ☝🏻

couple of features I want to point out about each one…

1. Reindeer antlers are adorbs.. obv. 🦌 This one is the least soft out of the three and the legs are a little snug/stiff but it’s super cute so I’m keeping.

2. Couldn’t resist the flapjack butt. It says “bear cheeks.” Thinner material but very comfy… almost t-shirt like. These also come in kids’ sizes and men’s sizes so you can snag a pair for the whole family!

3. Red Fleece snowflake onesie - runs large but super comfy! It has a hood! My favorite feature is the feet zip off if you want to wear it footless. 😍

Tips for Farrah Fawcett volume and bangs:
👉🏻 use a hot air blowout brush. I’m using the half size double shot from @thedrybar
👉🏻 take sections of hair and extend underneath with brush towards the face
👉🏻 after a few passes, curl from underneath and let it sit up towards the roots for a few seconds
👉🏻 when unraveling the curl twist with your fingers at the end
👉🏻 for bangs, curl BACKWARDS and let it sit for a few seconds to get that Farrah curtain bang swoop!

Don’t forget to use a heat protectant spray. Root lifter product optional for even more volume!
